Are your products Certified Organic & Reef safe ?

Yes! Our sunscreens are 100% organic (audited 100% Organic by PHARMCHEM Technical Services to NSF/ANSI 305-2016) and biodegradable. Several countries such Hawaii and Thailand only allow the use of sunscreens with Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide Actives due to the effects of some chemical UV filters on marine life.

Are your sunscreens certified vegan?

We've attained 100% Vegan Certification with Vegecert (Certified Companies - Vegecert), and all product testing is cruelty-free. No animals or animal products are involved in our product, the testing or the manufacturing processes.

Various standard sunscreen formulations contain non-vegan ingredients, according to the Vegan Society (2017) the most common ingredients to watch out for are:

  • Beeswax is used as an emollient in skincare products.
  • Chitin commonly derived from the exoskeletons of crustaceans, insects and even arachnids.
  • Collagen is a major structural protein found in animal connective tissue. It usually comes from cows, pigs or fish.
  • Elastin is another protein. It is found in animal artery walls, intestines, lungs and skin.
  • Lanolin is the animal fat extracted from sheep’s wool.
  • Stearin or Stearic Acid is derived from the fat of cows, sheep or pigs. It is often a by-product of animal agriculture.

What’s the difference between Chemical and Mineral Sunscreens?

Both chemical and mineral sunscreens contain UV filters, but they work in different ways. Chemical sunscreens absorb harmful UV rays, whilst mineral sunscreens reflect them. Chemical sunscreens contain active ingredients such as oxybenzone, octocrylene and avobenzone. Mineral sunscreens like ours are made from zinc oxide. Chemical sunscreens can damage waterways and marine life, and aren’t as good for your skin, so we choose to make 100% mineral sunscreens.

Is mineral sunscreen better than chemical?

We think so .....

Suzuki et al. (2005) reviewed thirty-five studies that have raised concerns about the potential adverse health effects caused by chemical UV filters.

FDA Position:

The FDA sunscreen safety review, published 24/09/2021, has confirmed Zinc Oxide to be the only broad-spectrum UV Filter considered safe and effective, whilst the 12 UV Filters below have been identified as potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic:

Is mineral sunscreen better for the environment ?

Yes . Our sunscreen is 100% natural, made from plants and minerals, and manufactured in a factory powered by solar panels. Even our tubes are recyclable! We are passionate about protecting the environment, so our products are sustainable, and certified Vegan, Cruelty Free and Organic. Additionally, because we don’t use any nasty chemicals,Fullnoon sunscreens are 100% reef safe.

Are your sunscreens water resistant?

Mutiple sunscreens within our range are tested to 40 minutes water resistant as perTGA andFDAstandards, which you can check to see in the product description to see if a sunscreen is water resistant and for how long – but you should remember to always reapply when you’re done swimming or toweling off.

How often should I reapply sunscreen?

Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours when outside, after swimming, towelling off or sweating intensely as per TGA and FDA recommendations. This make's sure you are still protected.

What SPF are your sunscreens?

Whilst the SPF rating varies depending on product, we offer a number of SPF50 Sunscreens all in-vivo tested and compliant withTGA/FDA/EUregulations. Check the product information to see what SPF level it is to make sure you're getting the sunscreen that's right for you. Every batch produced is SPF tested to ensure you're protected.

What is the shelf life of your sunscreen?

Our sunscreen shelf life differs depending on the product and batch, though some of our longer lived products have been tested to have up to 3 years of shelf life from date of manufacture following TGA and FDA standards.

What is zinc ?

Zinc is a natural mineral. It provides broad spectrum protection against ultraviolet rays (as zinc oxide).

We use an uncoated certified natural pharmaceutical grade zinc oxide in all of our products.

Is zinc oxide sunscreen good for my skin?

Definitely! Zinc is a miracle mineral, present in every cell of the body. It helps with DNA synthesis and skin regeneration. In fact, most diaper rash creams are around 40% zinc oxide – so zinc is a soothing, healing product when applied topically. It’s also a phenomenal barrier to the harsh UVA, UVB and blue light rays that we are exposed to daily (Frydrych et al., 2004).

Is zinc oxide vegan?

Yes! We use 100% uncoated natural non-nano zinc oxide. Not only is it vegan, but it is cruelty free, reef safe, hypoallergenic and gluten free.

What does cruelty free mean ?

It means no animals or animal products are involved in our product, the testing or the manufacturing processes.

We've attained 100% Vegan Certification with Vegecert (Certified Companies - Vegecert), so all product testing is cruelty-free.

Which ingredients are in your sunscreen ?

The active ingredient (the one that protects you from the sun) is Non Nano Zinc Oxide 25% w/w.

What is the texture of your sunscreen like?

Our formulations are smooth and silky! The use of zinc oxide means it’s not as runny as chemical sunscreens, but blends seamlessly into your skin, providing amazing coverage without stickiness.

How long does a 110g tube last ?

If you use the recommended daily amount, around 2 - 2.5g daily on your face then we'd expect each tube to last 1 person around 4-8 weeks.

Do you add fragrance to your susncreen ?

No. We find the natural aroma of our sunscreen is pleasant enough. We don't to add anything to our product that's not needed and helps to keep the cost down.

Is it safe for infants and people with sensitive skin ?

Yes. Our chemical free formulation and natural tint means that it's safe for everyone to use our sunscreens.

We recommend patch testing on infants first and follow the directions on the packaging.
