How should I apply this to my skin
How to Apply Fullnoon Mineral Sunscreen
- Apply to Clean Skin: Cleanse your skin before applying sunscreen.
- Apply in Small Sections: For your face, start with about 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen. For other areas, use more as needed. Rub the sunscreen between your palms, then blot it over the areas you want to cover.
- Massage In: Rub the sunscreen in well until it’s fully absorbed. Un-tinted Non-nano zinc oxide may leave a white appearance and a subtle sheen will remain, indicating it’s working.
- Monitor Application: The sheen is a good indicator that the product is protecting you. It also helps to track when it's time to reapply, especially for parents monitoring kids’ exposure or for those in and out of the water.
- Reapply: Reapply every 2 hours, or after swimming or sweating.
What preservatives are used in your sunscreen, and what is its shelf life?
Our sunscreen is formulated with natural ingredients that help preserve its quality and stability without the need for synthetic preservatives. The following ingredients contribute to maintaining the product’s integrity:
- Candelilla Wax: A plant-derived wax with natural antimicrobial properties.
- Potassium Cetyl Phosphate: An emulsifier that ensures water and oil ingredients stay mixed and stable.
- Polyhydroxystearic Acid: A stabilizer that helps maintain the texture and consistency of the sunscreen.

Are your products Certified Organic & Reef safe ?
Yes! Our sunscreens are 100% organic, certified by PHARMCHEM Technical Services and audited to meet NSF/ANSI 305-2016 standards for organic cosmetics. They are also biodegradable, meaning they break down naturally without harming the environment. Additionally, our sunscreens use Zinc Oxide as the active ingredient, which is considered reef-safe. Many places, including Hawaii and Thailand, have regulations that only allow sunscreens with Zinc Oxide or Titanium Dioxide due to the harmful effects that some chemical UV filters can have on marine life.
Are your sunscreens certified vegan & cruelty free ?

What’s the difference between Chemical and Mineral Sunscreens?
Chemical and mineral sunscreens both contain UV filters, but they work in different ways:
- Chemical Sunscreens: These absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, which is then released from the skin. Common active ingredients include oxybenzone, octocrylene, and avobenzone. While chemical sunscreens are generally considered safe for most people, some ingredients can cause skin irritation, especially for those with sensitive skin. There are also environmental concerns regarding certain chemical filters (like oxybenzone), which have been shown to harm coral reefs and marine life. As a result, some regions have banned or restricted sunscreens containing these chemicals.
- Mineral Sunscreens: These physically block and reflect UV rays away from the skin, creating a protective barrier. A review by Suzuki et al. (2005) raised concerns about the potential adverse health effects caused by some chemical UV filters. These studies highlighted possible links between certain chemical sunscreen ingredients and various health risks, such as hormone disruption and skin irritation.
FDA Position:
The FDA Sunscreen Safety Review published on September 24, 2021, confirmed that Zinc Oxide is the only broad-spectrum UV filter currently considered both safe and effective by the agency. Zinc oxide provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays and is not absorbed into the skin, making it a preferred option for those seeking a safer, more natural sunscreen.
In contrast, the FDA has identified 12 chemical sunscreen filters as potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic. These ingredients are under further scrutiny due to their potential health risks. What does "SPF" actually mean ?
The short answer:
The most common answer given is that it's a measure of how much more time you can spend in the sun, before you burn, against how much more time you can spend in the sun if you are wearing sunscreen. The amount of time differs with UV levels, genetics and if you've applied it correctly.
So, under this theory, SPF = time to burn with sunscreen / time to burn without sunscreen.
Sounds complicated, but basically the higher the SPF, the more protection you get.
The FDA actually has a slightly different view on what this is actually a measurement of.
Here's their view ....
SPF is a measure of how much solar energy (UV radiation) is required to produce sunburn on protected skin (i.e., in the presence of sunscreen) relative to the amount of solar energy required to produce sunburn on unprotected skin. As the SPF value increases, sunburn protection increases.
There is a popular misconception that SPF relates to time of solar exposure. For example, many consumers believe that, if they normally get sunburn in one hour, then an SPF 15 sunscreen allows them to stay in the sun 15 hours (i.e., 15 times longer) without getting sunburn. This is not true because SPF is not directly related to time of solar exposure but to amount of solar exposure. Although solar energy amount is related to solar exposure time, there are other factors that impact the amount of solar energy. For example, the intensity of the solar energy impacts the amount. The following exposures may result in the same amount of solar energy:
- one hour at 9:00 a.m.
- 15 minutes at 1:00 p.m.
Generally, it takes less time to be exposed to the same amount of solar energy at midday compared to early morning or late evening because the sun is more intense at midday relative to the other times. Solar intensity is also related to geographic location, with greater solar intensity occurring at lower latitudes. Because clouds absorb solar energy, solar intensity is generally greater on clear days than cloudy days.
In addition to solar intensity, there are a number of other factor that influence the amount of solar energy that a consumer is exposed to:
- skin type
- amount of sunscreen applied
- reapplication frequency
Fair-skinned consumers are likely to absorb more solar energy than dark-skinned consumers under the same conditions. The amount of sunscreen applied also impacts the amount of solar radiation absorbed, because more sunscreen results in less solar energy absorption. Because sunscreens wear off and become less effective with time, the frequency with which they are reapplied is critical to limiting absorption of solar radiation. The reapplication frequency is also impacted by the activities that consumers are involved in. For example, consumers who swim while wearing sunscreen need to reapply the sunscreen more frequently because water may wash the sunscreen from the body. In addition, high levels of physical activity require more frequent reapplication because the activity may physically rub off the sunscreen and heavy sweating may wash off the sunscreen. In general, more frequent reapplication is associated with decreased absorption of solar radiation.
Because of the various factors that impact the amount of solar radiation, SPF does not reflect time in the sun. In other words, SPF does not inform consumers about the time that can be spent in the sun without getting sunburn. Rather, SPF is a relative measure of the amount of sunburn protection provided by sunscreens. It allows consumers to compare the level of sunburn protection provided by different sunscreens. However, it’s important to always reapply after swimming or toweling off to ensure continued protection.
How often should I reapply sunscreen?
Sunscreen should be reapplied every 2 hours when you're outdoors to ensure continuous protection from harmful UV rays. Sunscreen can wear off over time due to factors like sweating, swimming, or toweling off, so it’s important to reapply regularly, even if you haven’t been in the water. Additionally, if you’re sweating intensely or engaging in any physical activities that might cause the sunscreen to rub off, you should reapply sooner.
While our sunscreen is water-resistant (40 mins), it’s essential to reapply after swimming, sweating, or toweling off, as the protective barrier can break down with water exposure or physical activity.
What is zinc oxide, is it good for my skin and is it vegan?
Zinc oxide is a natural mineral that provides broad-spectrum protection against UV rays, including UVA, UVB, and blue light. It works by physically blocking and reflecting these harmful rays from the skin. We use 100% uncoated, certified natural pharmaceutical-grade zinc oxide in all our sunscreens to ensure effective protection.

How long does a 110g tube last ?
A 110g tube of sunscreen typically lasts 4 to 8 weeks for one person, depending on how much you use each day.
- Recommended usage: For optimal protection, the recommended amount of sunscreen for your face is 2-2.5g daily (about half a teaspoon). This ensures proper coverage and efficacy.
- Body application: If you're using the sunscreen on your body as well, the tube may last a shorter time. For full body application, an average adult requires about 35-40g for each application, which means the tube would last approximately 3-5 full body applications.
