Your Fullnoon Games Towel
12 light pieces
12 dark pieces
Capture all your opponent’s pieces or block them so they cannot make a legal move.
Lay the towel flat with the Checkers board facing up.
Sit on opposite sides of the board.
Each player takes all 12 pieces of one colour.
Place your pieces on the dark squares in the three rows closest to you.
The player with the darker pieces goes first.
Players take turns moving one piece at a time.
A normal piece moves one square diagonally forward onto an empty dark square. It cannot move sideways or straight ahead.
You capture an opponent’s piece by jumping over it.
To make a capture:
The opponent’s piece must be on a diagonally adjacent square.
The square directly behind it must be empty.
Jump your piece over the opponent’s piece and land on the empty square.
Remove the captured piece from the board.
If you can make another capture with the same piece, keep jumping during the same turn. Your turn ends when that piece cannot capture again.
If you can capture a piece, you must do so. If more than one capture is available, you may choose which one to make.
When one of your normal pieces reaches the last row on your opponent’s side, it becomes a King. Place a spare piece of the same colour on top of it to show that it is a King.
Your turn ends when a normal piece reaches the last row and becomes a King.
A King can move and capture diagonally forwards or backwards. It still moves only one square at a time unless it is jumping to capture pieces.
You win when your opponent:
Has no pieces left, or
Cannot make a legal move.
